PRESIDENTIAL RACE | Republicans still waiting for Trump’s promised cash

After spending a few days reflecting on his immigration stances and consulting with Hispanic supporters, Donald Trump on Monday detailed how he would deal with the millions of immigrants illegally living in the United States: Enforce laws that are already on the books and continue to do what President Obama is doing, although “perhaps with a lot more energy”.

“I said that it’s something that has been done in a very strong manner”, Trump said, explaining why he had originally referenced the historic deportations. “We have existing laws that allow you to do that.”… The first thing we are going to do if and when I win, is we are going to get rid of all of the bad ones. “We’ve got gang members, we have killers, we have a lot of bad people that have to get out of this country”. What people don’t know is that Obama got tremendous numbers of people out of the country, Bush the same thing.

Throw your lot in with the party that, for the last half a century, has exploited white racism for political advantage, that has fought against laws and policies created to fix the damage of generations of discrimination and segregation, and that has worked to destroy the public-sector unions that lifted many African-American families into the middle class!

Moreover, shifting makes Trump look like the image people have of scheming politicians rather than someone they can have confidence in when he says “believe me”.

“I never even heard the term”.

When they consider the party that has put at the top of its national ticket a man who led the vicious, phony effort to delegitimize the first African-American president by challenging his citizenship, the party that promotes tax policies that favor the rich over the working class and that attacks the federal government that has time and again stepped in to defend their rights, black voters have consistently and resoundingly indicated that they have a very good idea what they have to lose by voting Republican. “We want to come up with a really fair, but firm answer”.

The Fox host also brought up Dwight Eisenhower’s “Operation Wetback”, through which the former president deported hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants and dropped them off in remote areas of Mexico in the 1950s. “I don’t agree with that”. I’m not talking about detention centers. We are talking about it.

“They are going to be out of here so fast, your head will spin. That’s they’ve done. And once the election’s over, they go back to their palaces in Washington, and you know what, they do nothing for you, just remember it”.

However, despite his adoption of teleprompters, Trump still veered badly off script in a rally in Akron, Ohio, on Monday night.

“Don’t worry. We’re going to build the wall”, Trump told the crowd. In saying, “He has said that he wants to regret anytime he’s caused somebody personal pain by saying something that he didn’t intend to cause personal pain”.

The billionaire businessman, whose hard-line approach to immigration and fierce rhetoric propelled him to the GOP presidential nomination, insisted that he’s not “flip-flopping” on the divisive issue as he works to broaden his support two-and-a-half months before the general election. We are suggesting security. “I don’t want them in our country”.
