PRESIDENTIAL RACE | Trump Jr. likens Syrian refugees to poisoned Skittles
The post has unsurprisingly sparked a massive social media backlash.

Donald Trump’s son and namesake, Donald Trump Jr., has just posted a controversial – to say the least – meme to Twitter, comparing Syrian refugees to poisoned candies and insinuating that America shouldn’t allow any in.
The tweet, which was sent from what has the appearance of an official Trump/Pence account, claims to be an analogy of “our Syrian refugee problem” that “says it all”.
There were more than 89,000 tweets about the topic yesterday.
The makers of Skittles were quick to join the second camp.
Skittles released a statement saying the analogy was not “appropriate” and clarified that refugees are actually people. “We will respectfully refrain from further commentary as anything we say could be misinterpreted as marketing”, said Wrigley in a statement passed along Tuesday morning by Denise Young, vice president of corporate affairs for Wrigley Americas.
The post Skittles took a big stand against something Donald Trump Jr. said about refugees, and this is why it matters appeared first on HelloGiggles.
The brash businessman also is strongly opposed to plans by President Barack Obama to allow 10,000 Syrian refugees into the United States by the end of this month. Trump regularly warns that refugees could be a “Trojan horse”, entering the country with the goal of later attacking it.
Trump has called for the immediate halt to US immigration from Syria and other Muslim countries where terrorists are known to operate.

“The outstanding question now is whether Trump Jr.is a true believer in white genocide or is simply playing one for cynical political purposes, letting the internet’s committed racists know that even if Trump moderates his rhetoric, he still wants their votes”. This is in addition to about 75,000 refugees from other parts of the world. “They could have just bought a cheap image from a micro stock library”, Kittos observed in his interview with the BBC. As Blinken explains to the Muppet Grover in the video, refugees are “people who’ve had to leave their homes because it’s not safe for them to live in their countries”.

But a recent study by the CATO Institute found the chances of being killed by a refugee of any nationality are 1 in 3.64 billion per year.
