Irishman Paul Dunne continues his sojourn to the PGA Tour, and looks capable of someday aping the likes of fellow countrymen Shane Lowry and Padraig Harrington (both of whom also feature) in winning big Stateside. The drive was not only long, whizzing past the fairway cypress tree on the fly, it settled in nicely on the left side of the fairway 225 yards from the green.
“Matt absolutely crushed that ball”, said Kontos.
Spieth was more animated talking about how Woods inspired him to seriously pursue golf as a youngster. “The biggest thing for me is to stay mentally sharp and make sure that I don’t make silly errors out there, because it’s very easy to take a long break, feel like you’re everything’s good and then you come out and make silly mental errors”. “We are aware of the ruling made in our favour regarding the lawsuit filed previous year by caddies and are pleased by the court’s decision”, its statement said. “I’m going to make this, ‘” Owen said. “I say that, obviously, because of the parings that I’ve had now the last four years”. “I’m just looking for a key or something that will trigger the swing”. Oh, and it’s an even year. “I’m like, ‘You’re like 98 yards out in the middle of the fairway”. Fantasy advice: Start him with confidence. “I’m still the same boring person I was before I won a Major”, he said ahead of yesterday’s first round. Feel free to add in your own favorites and blend my picks together on your way to what I hope will be a successful tournament. “I just need to find something to latch on to”. If you have a player going on MP or SH, you may as well just check in after their round is complete; you’ll go insane trying to get an accurate live update. He has a bank account he could easily live on for the rest of his life, and his fame has probably expanded ten-fold just from this time a year ago. “When you’re at the top, there’s a bit of a difference”.
Bochy and playing partner Randy Winn earned a double skin with the best score on the second hole, and after the 49ers won the next two courtesy of Harris Barton and Steve Bono, it came down to the 18th to decide it. World No. 1 Jordan Spieth is matched with eighth-ranked Dustin Johnson, who lost to Spieth in heartbreaking fashion at last summer’s U.S. Open at Chambers Bay (Washington).
Phil Mickelson is also back in the field after skipping the event past year, which ended a run of 20 straight appearances.
Each team plays one round at Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Monterrey Peninsular Country Club over the first three days, with the leading 25 pro-am teams and top 60 professionals and ties returning for the final round at Pebble Beach on Sunday. He again has Owen as his amateur partner.
Former A’s star Josh Donaldson, who was the American League MVP last season with Toronto, will open at MPCC on Thursday, playing in a group one hole ahead of Warriors CEO Joe Lacob.
