Modi also appreciated the culture of Iran noting that the trip to Iran marks great privilege; “Iran and India hold long-lasting friendship since centuries ago as they share numerous cultural ties”.
-Today, he is expected to meet Iran’s top leadership, including President Hassan Rouhani following a ceremonial welcome.
“The bilateral agreement to develop the Chahbahar port and related infrastructure, and availability of about $500 million from India for this goal, is an important milestone. Animated by this spirit, we Indians make every country our home”, Modi told the gathering at the gurudwara.
On the Indian position on possibility of laying down a gas pipeline between Chabhar and Gujarat, the Prime Minister said: “Our government is excited at the possibilities that Chabahar has to offer for India, Iran and the entire region”.
“My Iran visit is starting with the blessings before the Guru Granth Sahib at this gurudwara”.
“Let us all work together to serve humanity”, the prime minister said.
He will also inaugurate an International Conference on “retrospect and prospect” of India and Iran relations.
“The visit will highlight the deepening of the US-India relationship in key areas since the president’s visit to New Delhi in January 2015”, Earnest said in a statement.
“India wants to challenge China’s power in central and South Asia through Chabahar Port”, Iran newspaper says.
Considering that both countries have an important port like Chabahar, we can have vast cooperation.
India and Iran signed an MoU for bilateral contract on Chabahar Port for port development and operations between IPGPL [India Ports Global Private Limited] and Arya Banader of Iran. Two countries will sign several agreements to boost relations on politics, trade and transport.
The Prime Minister further said both nations have shared concerns at the spread of forces of instability, radicalism and terror in our region.
