PM Narendra Modi speaks in Varanasi on Friday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will try to woo chief executives of more than 35 companies, including Ford Motors, Lockheed Martin, IBM, PepsiCo, Du Pont, Merck &Co, Qualcomm Inc, and Abbott Laboratories, in New York later this month.
He also pointed out how the Jan Dhan scheme launched by the NDA government had benefited the poor and nearly 18 crore accounts had been opened.
PM Modi, who will be on a day long visit, will also interact with rickshaw pullers and distribute 101 e-rickshaws and 510 cycle rickshaws at an event here.
Modi also said education is the best and the least expensive way to fight poverty and urged the people of Varanasi to educate their children.
Moreover, Modi and the BJP now have greater backing than Congress in rural areas, traditionally a Congress stronghold, according to the survey. “We are not restricted to it. However, he ought not mislead the general people on the global backing which India has lost in the course of the most recent year”, the deputy leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha said.
Waiting to get a saffron rickshaw from the PM, an unemployed man said, “I am here for a rickshaw”.
But Modi has a bad habit of convincing people to ignore bigger problems by blindfolding them with visions of nationalism and patriotism.

The invitations to startups were drawn up in consultation with the prime minister’s office and functionaries of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The much-awaited tour comes eight months after his last visit on December 25 a year ago .
