Najib said Malaysia also welcomed the extensive financial cooperation between the two countries through facilitating the use of local currencies to support the growing cross-border trade, investment and financial flows over the years.
“Prime Minister Modi is a man of action”. He wants things to be implemented expeditiously and he has a proven track record as chief minister.
The prime minister said he was grateful for Malayia’s decision to improve security cooperation with India.
“And at a time of great challenges in the world, this statue on the soil of Malaysia is a reminder to the world of the values we so deeply need to fix the fault-lines that are tearing our societies apart”, he said.
The two sides also reaffirmed their continued commitment to parliamentary democracy and to promote further cooperation between the parliaments of both countries, and underlined the importance of regular and enhanced exchange of visits between parliamentarians from India and Malaysia. Cyber Security Malaysia and the Indian Computer Response Team will take the lead here.
“As our lives get more networked, this is emerging as one of the most serious concerns of our age”, he stated.
Speaking at a joint conference with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi after their bilateral talks here today, Najib said Modi was keen to expand traditional medicine in the field of Ayurveda. “We intend to exploit the full potential of our bilateral agreements and the India-ASEAN Agreements, ” he added.
“India will work with countries in the region and beyond, including the USA and Russian Federation, our East Asia Summit partners, to ensure that our commons – ocean, space and cyber – remain avenues of shared prosperity, not become new theatres of contests”.
Stating that the message of Lord Buddha reverberated throughout Asia, Modi stated the newly inaugurated Torana gate was a milestone in India’s relations with Malaysia.
Delegation level talks began after the ceremonial welcome, the guard of honour and the one-on-one meeting between Modi and Najib.

Modi said he and his Malaysian counterpart are determined to explore steps to show concrete and early results.
