Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to return to Pakistan, following his open-heart surgery in London, before the end of Ramazan, said Maryam Nawaz while talking exclusively to DawnNews.
But at 4.17 p.m. – about four hours after the surgery began at the private clinic in central London, she confirmed that doctors had completed the operation successfully. “I entrusted him to Allah”, Maryam Nawaz said in an earlier tweet.
Speaking to a select group of journalists at his Bani Gala residence, the PTI chairman censured the government’s strategy in the wake of the prime minister’s illness. The citizens of Pakistan offered special prayers for his speedy recovery and sacrificed goats and cows across the country.
Turkish president Tayyab Erdogan called Nawaz Sharif this morning and expressed his hope for his early recovery.
On Monday, Sharif telephoned his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, thanking him for his wishes for a quick recovery, the Pakistani Foreign Office said in a statement.
