Prime Minister Oli off to India for six-day state visit
The series of meetings were lined up with Mr Oli, including his meeting with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Power Minister Piyush Goyal, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup told reporters in his weekly media briefing.

Oli will stay at Rashtrapati Bhawan as the state guest and will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.
Union external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj received Mr Oli, accompanied by a 77-member delegation, at the airport, reflecting importance India attaches to the visit.
India and Nepal will hold wide ranging discussions on issues of mutual concern, as well as on strengthening bilateral cooperation in diverse areas including developmental assistance, energy and connectivity.
Oli plans to visit Mumbai, India’s financial capital, to meet business leaders as his country is in desperate need of investment in infrastructure and the industrial sector.
He stated India has already welcomed Nepal’s new structure which was promulgated on September 20 final yr. “India invited the PM who was elected beneath the constitutional provision… meaning India has welcomed the structure in Nepal”.
The Nepal government has formed a political committee with the aim to resolve the disputes over provincial demarcations under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa.
“Today’s cabinet meeting has chose to constitute the body which will be given full shape once the prime minister returns home from India visit”, Education Minister Girirajmani Pokharel was quoted as saying by My Republica.
Over the past six months, Kathmandu has consistently accused India of interfering in its internal matters, imposing an unofficial blockade, and stoking unrest within its borders.
“As my India tour has been termed “agenda less” so I have a bigger responsibility on me”. India has already begun to show friendly gestures and I will make sure to take it to a new height.
“Besides these, other important agreements and understanding will be reached with China keeping our national interest at the centre and development needs of the country in mind”, he said.
Oli’s predecessor Sushil Koirala had attended Prime Minister Modi’s swearing-in ceremony in May 2014.
An MoU is to be signed between the Sangeet Natak Akademi of India and the Nepal Sangeet Tatha Natya Pragya Pratisthan of Nepal for cultural exchanges between the two countries.
State visit follows lifting of blockade that caused acute shortage of fuel and essential supplies in landlocked nation. “Some people have been making remarks that Nepal was playing China card and the PM’s forthcoming visit to the northern neighbour will be just a formality”, he said. He will also pay courtesy calls on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari.

The two sides are busy seeking agreements on other MoUs which are under consideration and might be signed during Oli’s visit.
