#PrimeDayFail: Glitches, complaints batter Amazon Prime Day

At the time Amazon said it was a success, with 18 percent more orders placed that day than the prior year’s Black Friday, the shopping day after Thanksgiving that’s typically the busiest day in retail.
Some customers are complaining that they can’t add items to their cart to check-out. The company was working to resolve the issue.
Amazon has yet to respond to a request by ABC News for further comment beyond the tweet. While MKM Partner expects Prime Day sales to double on year-over-year (YoY) basis to $750-800 million, Citigroup believes that the company will cross hit the $1 billion mark in sales this year. The company’s effort to stir up summertime shopping mania is offering deals in 10 countries on a wide variety of products – electronics, kitchen appliances, jewelry, apparel.
New and existing members worldwide found deals across almost every department, like $50 off the Amazon Echo, a $649.99 curved 55-inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV and $30 off a Kindle Paperwhite. “I am especially excited about the deals on Amazon Devices like Amazon Echo, Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick and Fire tablet – each one helps members enjoy the many benefits of Amazon Prime”.
Amazon’s 2015 Prime Day was met with mixed reaction as many consumers were disappointed with the lack of meaningful and compelling deals.
Alexa users can save on their first purchase of $20 or more, and you can snag exclusive savings for ordering with your voice.
And don’t forget, if you’re a student with a valid.edu email address, you can get Amazon Prime for a generous six free months, and then continue as a member for half price for as long as you remain a student, for up to four years in total.
The sale is a part of Wal-Mart’s broader strategy to strengthen its e-commerce business at a time when its online sales growth is slowing down.
Some customers grumbled a year ago about the sale’s inventory levels as deals sold out fast.

The glitch, which affected Amazon’s USA and British websites, sparked outrage on social media with the hashtags #PrimeDay and #PrimeDayFail trending in the United States.
