Prince Autopsy Results May Take Weeks
While the world waits for answers, mourning for Prince has taken many forms, from Broadway tributes to sporting purple and from revisiting covers by well-known stars to long, cathartic listening sessions.

“It could be days, depending on the type of test, and most likely weeks to have the complete set of results available to us”, Weaver said.
An autopsy was completed Friday on the body of seven-time Grammy victor Prince but it may take several weeks before results are released, Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson said Friday. “And that would be protocol, Paisley Park is huge”.
Dispatcher 2: OK, thank you. “To process the scene at Paisley Park”.
Dispatcher: You’re at Paisley Park, OK, that’s in Chanhassen. He was later pronounced dead. On Thursday, a report released by TMZ said that Prince was treated for an opiate overdose. “Anything which could be relevant to the investigation will be taken into consideration”, the medical examiner’s Office said in a press release this morning.
Prince, whose hit songs also included “Let’s Go Crazy”, “I Would Die 4 U”, “Raspberry Beret”, “Little Red Corvette” and “Kiss”, was on a USA tour as recently as last week.
He sat at his piano most of the show, but stood up at times to pound the keys and walked around the piano a couple of times, soaking up cheers.
But after his death at age 57 – following a series of canceled shows and a reported emergency plane landing for medical treatment – questions swirled Friday over whether the music superstar had been hiding serious health problems from his fans. “And so we stayed chanting for him to come back out to ‘Purple Rain” and he did not.
“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer Prince Rogers Nelson, has died”, his publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, said. It remains unclear whether his seizures continued into adulthood or if the disease was a factor in his death. Attendees thought the singer looked fine and said he gave a good concert. Litman is executive producer for concerts at the theatre.
“I saw this person biking pretty quickly around the parking lot, but it wasn’t until he got close to my auto and I made eye contact with him that I realized it was actually Prince”, 17-year-old Kaitlyn Powell said. “He sounded true to his talents and it was an fantastic performance”, Prince fan and Atlanta attendee Nicholas Wolaver told the New York Times.
Following news reports that he had fallen ill while returning from Atlanta to Minneapolis, Prince hosted a dance party on April 16 at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota.
“This is certainly a big event internationally and nationally and I can tell you that we are going to leave no stone unturned on this and make sure the public knows what happened”, Olson said.
