ORIGINAL: MINNEAPOLIS (AP/WCCO) – An autopsy was completed Friday to determine what caused the death of the iconic musician Prince, who was found unresponsive in an elevator by sheriff’s deputies at his suburban Minneapolis compound a day earlier.

Thousands of Prince fans also gathered at the club in Minneapolis where he filmed Purple Rain as the venue hosted a free all-night dance party in his honour. She also said no preliminary results will be released and that the office will wait to release findings when all the information is in.
President Barack Obama prepared for a meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron in London Friday in an unusual way – by listening to the late performer Prince’s “Purple Rain” and “Delirious” on an old-school turntable.
Others flocked to Paisley Park in Chanhassen Thursday and Friday, where another memorial formed outside Prince’s home and studio. Emergency personnel reached Prince Thursday morning at 9:43 and performed CPR. Larson said the singer was on stage briefly and spoke to the crowd before standing by the sound board for 20 minutes and then disappearing for the night. According to the Sheriffs Office, the last time Prince was seen alive was about 8 p.m. Wednesday night at Paisley Park.
The Sheriff in Carver County said there is no reason to believe Prince’s death was a suicide.
Carver County officers were called after staff was unable to contact Prince.
Sheriff Jim Olson addressed the media giving a rundown of the events of April 21st, most of which had been previously reported.
He said he took advantage of a turntable at Winfield House, the home of U.S. Ambassador’s Matthew Barzun, to listen to some Prince records Friday morning.
The examiner’s office said gathering the results could take several days and the results of a full toxicology scan likely wouldn’t be available for weeks. The singer was taken to hospital after his private jet made an unscheduled landing in Moline, Illinois, amid previous reports that he had been battling flu.
He said at this point, it is unclear how long Prince was in the elevator before he was found.
Prince’s body was released to his family Friday afternoon.
Sheila E. said that’s the man she knew, too.

Smith said Prince swore off drugs and alcohol as a kid, and the group they played with saw a lot of music greats fall, so “we chose to never get into that stuff, and no one did”.
