Prince Died Of Accidental Fentanyl Overdose
It was previously claimed that Prince had been addicted to the painkiller Percocet for years because of problems with his hips and that he had to be given a “save shot” nearly a week before his passing after he overdosed on the highly-addictive drug, which contains acetaminophen and oxycodone. Also on April 20, Prince’s representatives asked California addiction specialist, Dr. Howard Kornfield, to see the him. He was wearing a black cap, shirt, pants, boxer briefs and socks and a gray undershirt, the report said. Authorities returned to Paisley Park on May 10, 2½ weeks after first searching the property the day of Prince’s death, but declined to say why.

Prince told his friends and associates after that emergency that he was OK. His son, Andrew, who is not a doctor, went to Minneapolis.
The younger Kornfeld, who is not a doctor, was carrying buprenorphine, a medication that can be used to treat opioid addiction.
On Thursday, Mauzy said his clients never delivered, dispensed or administered any medication to Prince.
Kornfeld, who was called on in the midst of a medical emergency but faced with a scheduling conflict, sent his son Andrew on a redeye flight to Prince’s Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, MN.
Sixty-year-old Kathy Gunter of Greenville, South Carolina, came to Paisley Park with her 41-year-old daughter, Jenny Kvaas of Elk River, Minnesota, to leave a purple boa and balloon on the fence.
“A fan tweeted Thursday “#Prince passed on of #ChronicPain essentially. “The doctor was planning on a lifesaving mission”, said William Mauzy, attorney for Kornfeld. For manner of death, a box was marked for “accident”. It does not preclude charges if the fentanyl was supplied illegally.
The toxicology results surrounding the singer’s death have not been released, and are not required to be under Minnesota law.
The medical examiner’s office said its investigation into Prince’s death had now finished and it was unable to make any further comments.
Update: The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office released a report verifying that the cause of Prince’s death was a toxic and accidental overdose of fentanyl.
Sources connected with the investigation tell us they have known “for a long time” that Fentanyl – an incredibly potent opioid up to 100 times more powerful than morphine – was the cause of death.
Dr. A. Quinn Strobl, who has been the chief medical examiner at the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office since late 2009, performed the autopsy on Prince herself.
The Associated Press has confirmed that Prince, the legendary musician who passed away in April, died of an opioid painkiller overdose.
The official spoke with The AP on the condition of anonymity because he’s not permitted to speak to the media, ABC News reported.

The Star Tribune, citing a source with knowledge of the investigation, reported that Schulenberg was Johnson’s doctor and that Johnson recommended him to Prince.
