Prince fans will now get to see the music superstar back on the big screen. “He was more than a musician”.

A private memorial service is being held for Prince at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota, on Saturday, multiple sources confirm to ET.

Prince died Thursday at Paisley Park at the age of 57. “No, I don’t think about gone”.

Crowds continued flocking Saturday to pay respects at Paisley Park.

The publicist’s brief statement repeated that the cause of Prince’s death was unknown and said autopsy results wouldn’t be received for at least four weeks.

In a statement, Noel-Schure said, “A few hours ago, Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved: family, friends and his musicians, in a private, handsome ceremony to say a loving goodbye”.

Smith said Prince swore off drugs and alcohol as a kid, and the group they played with saw a lot of music greats fall, so “we chose to never get into that stuff, and no one did”.

In the wake of his death, fans here have recalled how the Oscar and seven-time Grammy victor put the sleek “Minneapolis Sound” of the 1980s on the national music map.

Heather McElhatton, who worked on and off as a set decorator for Prince’s video shoots at Paisley Park from 1988 to 1998, said she never saw him take drugs or drink during her time there.

The 57-year-old “Purple Rain” creator, one of the most acclaimed and unique artists of his generation, will eventually be honored with a concert whose details will be announced at a later date, his spokeswoman said. “Prince made us cool. Prince really made his mark from here”.

Even the local sheriff, at a news conference on Prince’s death, reminded reporters that the purple-loving megastar was, at heart, a local guy.

“This is a tragedy for all of us”.

Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson says Prince was “a good neighbor” to community residents. But they all moved away. But she said she hadn’t talked directly with him in several months.

Prince’s innovative music spanned rock, funk and jazz.

“He had the freedom to do stuff here and not worry about paparazzi bothering him”.

Sheila added, “Thank you guys very much”, Sheila E told the fans.

At one point early in his first show, he briefly disappeared from the stage without explanation.

Emergency crews who answered the 911 call in Chanhassen, Minn., about 30 kilometres outside Minneapolis, could not revive Prince, the sheriff said.

“Maybe to a certain extent he considered this a little bit of peaceful repose”, Laufenburger said.
