Prince Fielder may be forced to retire, per report
If Fielder’s career is indeed over, then he’ll finish it as one of the better offensive first basemen of his generation.

Texas Rangers designated hitter Prince Fielder is reportedly retiring from baseball.
The 32-year-old recently underwent spinal fusion surgery for a herniated disk in his neck.
Fielder was the seventh overall pick by the Brewers in 2002. That streak carried over to his time with the Tigers, where he played all 162 games in 2012 and 2013. Fielder had both his 2014 and 2016 seasons cut short due to neck surgery.
In a insane bit of trivia, Prince Fielder will finish with 319 career home runs, the same amount as Cecil Fielder. He also has the Brewers record for most home runs in a season (50) and RBI in a season (141). A 12-year veteran, he is a six-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger Award victor and the 2015 American League Comeback Player of the Year. If his career is indeed over, he will retire with 319 homers. Fielder’s father Cecil had a career record of 319 HRs as well.
Fielder was owed another $96 million through 2020, with the Tigers paying $6 million of that in each of the next four seasons and the Rangers handling the rest.
