Prince George’s Christening Outfit Sells Out

Well wishers gathered near the entrance of the church, offering their congratulations to the Duke and the Duchess, who pushed Princess Charlotte – the fourth in line to the throne – in a pram down the path towards the Sandringham church. Kensington Palace tweeted on Monday, July 6. At his sister’s christening on Sunday, young George wore mary janes and a peculiar “smocked set” (which then instantly and inevitably sold out) comprising a pair of retro red shorts and an embroidered red and white shirt. It’s only the second glimpse of the princess in public since she was born May 2. Her almost two-year-old brother, Prince George, also wore an ensemble that was strikingly familiar.

Although the ceremony was private, the Duke and Duchess agreed to allow members of the public into the area outside the church to see them as they made their way to and from the venue. George’s nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo – in her Norland uniform – was also on hand to help out.

Despite being thoroughly modern royal parents, Prince William and Kate are keen to honour tradition when the occasion is right – and the christening of their baby girl, Princess Charlotte, was the flawless setting.

William and Kate sent messages of gratitude to people who were present at their daughter’s baptism.
