The 2-year-old future king showed his appreciation for the Obamas’ gift to him on his first birthday, a wooden rocking horse, by playing on it. Another of George’s toys includes a stuffed dog that the Obamas sent to him when his sister Princess Charlotte was born.
As a gift, the White House said the Obamas presented the queen “with a custom photo album chronicling her visits with U.S. presidents and first ladies”.
“The queen’s been a source of inspiration for me, ” Obama said later at a news conference alongside British Prime Minister David Cameron.
The Obamas did not get to meet Princess Charlotte, but chatted in the Drawing Room of Apartment 1A Kensington Palace before dinner. “The spirit of “Yes we can” has informed the entire tour, and it’s an honour to meet the man who coined the phrase, and who exemplifies its spirit”.
According to Mashable, the little prince donned a dapper white bathrobe to meet President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
Barack Obama also met Kate Middleton and Prince William.
The encounter took place as the president and First Lady Michelle Obama continued their visit to England. Queen Elizabeth greeted thousands of well-wishers from across Britain and beyond as she celebrated her 90th birthday on Thursday, demonstrating the world’s oldest monarch’s intent to keep doing the job she has performed for more than six decades.
Obama on Saturday opened his last full day in London by taking in a performance cribbed from William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, including portions of the prince of Denmark’s famous “To be or not to be” soliloquy.
