Terrestrial radio stations are doing their best to fill the gap, as local broadcast radio channels across the United States have been featuring Prince nonstop on their playlists since the superstar’s demise.

Tragic as it is, there’s exactly one good thing going on: People are reconnecting with the music that put Prince on top of the music world in the first place.

Prince, whose pioneering brand of danceable funk and virtuoso talents made him one of the most influential figures in music, died suddenly on Thursday at his secluded compound in Minnesota.

Prince fans seem to have immediately drowned their sorrow in album purchases, because his music started selling soon after news broke that he had passed away.

Prince has also dominated the album chart, with his The Very Best Of looking likely to take the No 1 spot, and other four albums of his works also in the top ten.

Making up the top 10 are last week’s first placer The Lumineers’ “Cleopatra”, which plunges to No. 9 with 36,000, and Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” that descends from No. 6 to No. 10 also with 36,000.

Following his untimely passing last Thursday (April 21), Prince’s classic works have been flooding back in to the Official Albums and Singles Charts.

Next week, the Number One spot will be fought between Prince’s catalog and the digital-only arrival of Beyoncé’s Lemonade. The Very Best of Prince sold 100,000 in traditional album sales (up 11,232 percent), while Purple Rain sold 63,000 copies (up 3,101 percent). It’s nearly a certainty that Prince could get #1 again next week, as fans having more time to buy his albums will result in better numbers. The cast of Broadway musical Hamilton celebrated the life of the 57-year-old with a rousing rendition of Lets Go Crazy, while Jennifer Hudson led the cast of The Colour Purple as they sang Purple Rain.
