His death has triggered an outpouring of grief from millions of fans across the world.

AMC says it will be playing Purple Rain in 87 theaters from Saturday April 23 through Thursday April 28. The pop super star died Thursday at the age of 57. Minnesota lawmakers gave police agencies the right to carry it since they are often first responders. Deputies attempted CPR, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Prince was last seen about 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night when he was dropped off at Paisley Park, according to Olson.
Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson also said that there is no reason to believe that his death was a suicide.
The Sheriff said that as Prince was a “private person” it was not unusual for him to be there alone, although the fact that no one could rouse him that morning had concerned employees enough to call the Sheriff’s department. The sheriff declined to say who made the initial 911 call, saying that information is private. He promised he “will make sure the public knows what happened” when the results of both the autopsy and investigation become available.
Olson said Prince’s death was unwitnessed, and because of that, the scene was processed similar to that of a crime scene.
Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson and a medical examiner’s office spokeswoman refused to comment Friday when asked about prescription drugs or a possible overdose. TMZ said Prince was given, what they describe, as a “save shot” to possibly counteract the effects of an opiate.
That was also the day he performed in Atlanta and it was on the way back from this show that his plane made an emergency medical landing in IL. They report it was Prince’s fourth visit to the pharmacy that week.
But authorities have not released a cause of death and have said results could take days or weeks.
After treatment there for what aides said was the flu, Prince tweeted, “I am transformed”. “To our generation, he was the songbook and narrative to some of the greatest moments of our lives”, she said.
Prince’s autopsy was completed at 1 p.m. CDT, the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed.
He said: “There were no obvious signs of trauma on the body at all”.
For now, fans can only wait and continue to celebrate his unquestionable legacy.
Whilst a spokesperson for the Examiners Office added in a statement: “As part of the complete exam, relevant information regarding [Prince’s] medical and family history will be gathered”.
Jeremiah Freed, who runs the website drfunkenberry.com and who got to know Prince after writing about him over the years, said he last saw Prince at the dance party. “The Carver County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death”.
