Prince was alone when he died.

Promoter Steve Litman said Friday that he’d been working for weeks to set up two surprise pop-up shows on April 18 at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis.

Prince was found dead in his $10 million home recording studio Thursday morning by concerned friends who couldn’t reach the musical megastar.

Freed said Prince made a brief appearance but that he didn’t have one-on-one time with the musician that night.

“For our generation, he was the songbook and the narrative for some of the greatest moments in our individual lives, much like Elvis Presley and Ira Gershwin before him”, Weaver said.

Olson said normal protocol includes gathering recorded surveillance video, as well as thorough search of the scene, which included a search warrant, which he said “would be filed in the next week or so”.

That person, whom the sheriff did not identify, has been interviewed as part of the investigation.

During the conference, Sheriff Jim Olson revealed that there is no reason to believe that Prince’s death was a suicide, and that there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.

Olson’s office was among the agencies who responded to calls for help Thursday morning at Prince’s compound in Chanhassen.

Prince was legendary for his marathon performances, which would often last until dawn, but had hip surgery several years ago and suffered epilepsy as a child. His voice seemed a bit weak at times when he spoke, but he sounded fine when singing during his 80-minute show, which included everything from songs made famous by others (“Nothing Compares 2 U“) to his finale to the first show of the evening, “Baby, I’m A Star“. Prince was seen in recent years using a cane.

The four-hour autopsy was finished Friday around 1 p.m. central time, but full results will not be ready for a few weeks.

A post-mortem examination was completed earlier on Friday, where information about Prince’s “medical and social history” was gathered, the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office said.

A cause of death wasn’t immediately determined. It is now prepared to release the singer’s body to his family.

Prince was unresponsive in an elevator when the musician was found by sheriff’s deputies who had been called to his suburban Minneapolis compound, a Minnesota sheriff says.
