Olson said staff went to Prince’s home after they were unable to contact him Thursday morning.

On Thursday, Prince was found unresponsive in an elevator inside his Minnesota home and later pronounced dead.

Olson said the Hennepin County Crime lab was called in to process the scene since there were no witnesses to the death, which is standard protocol.

Prince’s body was released to his family Friday afternoon after an autopsy was performed earlier in the day. Both start about 1:30 a.m. after other concerts. He added that the investigation would remain open “until the autopsy results get back”.

He said USA ambassador Matthew Barzun had a copy of Prince’s record at his official residence in London.

“In life, he was a very private person”, Olson said.

Because of the nature’s death, the Sheriff’s office is investigating Prince’s death.

The office received a medical call at 9:43am and responded with fire, sheriff and ambulance, standard operating procedure according to the Sheriff.

The sheriff also refused to share information linked to reports suggesting Prince had suffered an overdose of painkiller Percocet last week (15Apr16).

Following news reports that he had fallen ill while returning from Atlanta to Minneapolis, Prince hosted a dance party on April 16 at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota.

A spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office said it would not release information from the post-mortem examination until “all results are obtained” and the findings of a toxicology scan “could likely take weeks”. He was briefly in hospital last Friday with what a representative told celebrity news outlet TMZ was the flu after his plane had made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois.
