Prince’s Paisley Park Opens For Public Tours This Fall

Bremer Trust, which is administering Prince’s contested estate – the singer left no will – has entered into an agreement with a subsidiary of Graceland Holdings, LLC, for the “development, management, and oversight of all aspects of the museum at Paisley Park”, according to the proposal.

“Opening Paisley Park is something that Prince always wanted to do and was actively working on”, Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, said in a press release. The estate will maintain ownership of the property, but it will be run by the same group that operates Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis.

With the aim to realize Prince’s vision, Paisley Park, the famed private estate and production complex of the rock legend, will be made into a museum. Only a few hundred people have ever been inside Paisley Park, Nelson said, but now fans from around the globe will be able to step into the world of Prince Rogers Nelson. “Now, fans from around the world will be able to experience Prince’s world for the first time as we open doors to this incredible place”, she adds.

Prince’s home will be open to the public for tours starting this fall.

Visitors on the guided tours will get an exclusive look at the extensive main floor of Paisley Park, which includes Prince’s recording and mixing studios.

More than 20 million people have visited Graceland, where Presley died in 1977, since it opened to the public – with around 600,000 annual visitors in recent years. Also, there will be artifacts from his personal archives featured in the tour, “including iconic concert wardrobe, awards, musical instruments, artwork, rare music and video recordings, concert memorabilia, automobiles and motorcycles”. VIP tours for smaller groups are also available at $100 or more per guest. Tickets go on sale Friday.

CNNMoney estimates about 1,500 to 2,000 guests would tour Prince’s home a day during peak season. A public hearing will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at City Hall, and a special city council meeting will take place October 3 to give final consideration to the application.
