Prince Tribute Set for Oct 13
Rather than take over an entire NFL football stadium, the tribute concert has booked the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul.

The bandleader for the concert is Morris Hayes, keyboardist with Prince’s old backing band New Power Generation, while Prince’s most recent band 3rdEyeGirl will be the in-house backing band.
Tickets go on sale Monday, Sept. 19 and will cost $19.99, a price that was agreed upon in honor of Prince’s smash hit “1999”. Ingrid Ostrom of Greensboro, N.C., purchased airline tickets as well as tour passes for Paisley Park and is taking nearly a week of unpaid leave from work to attend the not-yet-firm tribute show.
Prince’s family first announced the show in late July, but details were slow to come out. “This concert will be an event not to be missed”.
It’s telling how many fans booked travel without knowing any details, said Jeremiah Freed, aka Dr. Funkenberry, a longtime fan and friend of Prince who hosts a podcast and runs a website. But weeks passed with no word from the family as rumors spread of much behind-the-scenes drama. L Londell McMillan pointed out that it was not about the money.
The late star’s inner sanctum, who worked within throughout his lengthy career, will be represented by Morris Day & The Time, Judith Hill and Liv Warfield.

Prince died at the age of 57 in April following an accidental overdose of the powerful opioid fentanyl. “#KeepTheFaith” and an icon of rain falling on a purple umbrella, but didn’t immediately return a call Thursday. Daily tours are set to begin October 6 and are run by Graceland Holdings, which oversees Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis. He played three sold-out nights at the arena during his 2004 U.S. tour.
