Princess Charlotte, Prince George steal show; Kate gorgeous

Revellers in plastic ponchos have descended on The Mall for the street party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday despite the wet weather.

Somerset’s celebration is the same day as London’s Trooping the Colour birthday parade, which will commemorate the Queen’s iconic birthday (April 21).

It traditionally served as preparation for battle when colours were paraded to soldiers.

Why does the queen have two birthdays?

Wearing her brunette hair down, The Duchess had everyone talking as she arrived in short sleeves while the rest of the Royal family covered up with coats and jackets.

Now the oldest-living and longest-serving British monarch in the country’s history, Queen Elizabeth stepped out Saturday in a bright and festive green suit.

To conclude celebrations, the queen hosts “The Patrons Lunch” for 10,000 guests at the largest street party ever to be held on the Mall, the grand avenue that leads to Buckingham Palace, an event organised by her grandson, Peter Phillips.

Pictured in the arms of her mother Kate Middleton and with her three-year-old brother Prince George close by, the adorable 13-month-old was clad in a pink dress with matching shoes and bow in her hair. But her official birthday is also marked in Britain on a Saturday in June with Trooping the Colour.

The Queen first stood on that balcony in 1935, and over 90 years, she worked as a mechanic and military truck driver in World War II and met 12 USA presidents during her reign and watching.

After the three-day extravaganza, the queen is expected to turn her attention to the horse racing season and her lengthy summer holiday in Scotland. Prince Harry, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla were also among the balcony attendees.

The young tots joined their parents, Prince Harry, the Queen and her husband, Prince Philip, as they greeted onlookers and waved to those who wanted to wish the Queen well.
