Princess Leia has a new name in “The Force Awakens”
This apparently holds true for our beloved Princess, as Abrams revealed that she will be known in the movie as “the General”. That is not my name! However, one thing’s for sure: she is very much aware of the Force, making her an important well of information for characters such as Finn and Rey.

Here’s some news which might shock Star Wars fans – Princess Leia’s not going to be called Princess any more in the forthcoming seventh instalment.
Carrie Fisher will be reprising her role as the Alderaan native diplomat. According to Abrams a character in the film sort of slips and calls her “Princess”. “I had some specific ideas about how she would work and what she would do”.
When asked about reuniting with Harrison Ford for “Force Awakens”, Fisher jokes and states that the two are pretty much exhausted of each other at this point, and that the biggest thing that the actress is interested about is how Ford has kept in such good shape over the years.
The plot will follow the events of Episode VI and takes place 30 years after the battle of Endor.
Abrams also revealed Lupita Nyong’o’s identity confirming that her voice can be heard in the TV spot for the movie, saying, “I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people”. However, Abrams did note that there is a “historic” atmosphere with having her around, particularly with Harrison Ford and when they share scenes together.
Not only does this mark Fisher’s return to Star Wars, it’s also the first time she’s acted in quite awhile since shifting her focus to writing.
“Not easily”, Fisher says of how Leia is dealing with the circumstances of the movie, “…Under a lot of pressure.
