‘Prison Break’: Fox plans a revival of action drama

The network plans a 10-episode sequel to the onetime hit, which ran from 2005 to 2009 and starred Dominic Purcell as a prisoner and Wentworth Miller as his tattooed brother, who broke into the prison in order to bust him out.

Although Miller’s Michael Scofield did not appear to survive the direct-to-DVD series finale telefilm Prison Break: The Final Break, it was revealed that series creator Paul Scheuring has an explanation for Scofield’s return. “It is past season four, several years past when the season ended. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back”, Gary explained. “I don’t think Paul knows exactly where he’s going over the 10-episode arc, but it definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series”. The new series, the Fox execs said, will provide a “logical and reasonable” for why the characters are alive.

Questioned how a resurrection series may cope with the truth that among Prison Break primary figures died at the conclusion of the initial sequence, Walden responded: “What [John] pitched to us was an extremely reasonable and plausible – within the world of Prison-Break – clarification for why our figures are living but still getting around the planet”.

Given the split opinions, Walden clarified the status of The Final Break in the new series in a follow-up session after the panel. He had some other ideas about where these characters were headed but it will connect to that episode.

“For Paul, this is an opportunity to tell a story about these characters that he created,” Walden continues. “Fans will be excited about seeing these characters back together again”. I’m raising my prosthetic hand for T-Bag! More as we have it. “It’ll start after where we left the Scofields in the final season”.

“This is the pure vision of the creator of the show”, Walden continued.
