And, according to Wylie, Sweat has not told investigators anything different. He says he didn’t use power tools – only a hacksaw blade.

Wylie said Sweat told police he had access to a catwalk area in the prison bowels for several weeks before escaping.

Due to the ongoing review and investigations, additional information was not available at this time. It didn’t release the names of those on leave.

There is more fallout from the escape of two inmates from the Clinton Correctional Facility.

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – The Department of Corrections has placed three members of the Clinton Correctional Facility’s Executive team on administrative leave.

Gene Palmer is the veteran corrections officer who has been accused of providing the inmates with contraband.

We already know that Joyce Mitchell, a 51-year-old civilian tailor at the prison, has been charged with putting tools into hamburger meat and smuggling them into the prison.

The June 6 escape of Richard Matt, 49, and and David Sweat, 35, sparked a massive manhunt that drew up to 1,500 law-enforcement officials to the rugged, rural terrain of northern New York.

Sweat was shot and arrested Sunday. Jay Cook spotted him while on routine patrol.

The admission that the inmates actually practiced making their way to freedom was the first of perhaps many shocking details officials hope Sweat gives up so they can understand how security broke down.

Center medical director Dennis McKenna issued a statement saying Sweat had seen “an improvement from his condition Monday”, when he had been upgraded to serious condition.

Racette was put on ice two days after Sweat was captured after 23 days on the lam.

Matt was fatally shot Friday afternoon. Matt was dressed in dark brown trousers, a dark green jacket, and heavy boots when he was shot, Franklin County Coroner Brian Langdon told CNN.

According to the report, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo stated that Sweat told authorities that the original escape plan was to have Matt and him break out of the maximum security prison, and Mitchell was supposed to meet the two outside of the prison and then kill her husband.

“They would kill Mitchell’s husband, and then get in the auto and drive to Mexico on the theory that Mitchell was in love with one or both of them”, Cuomo told “The Capitol Pressroom” radio program. When Mitchell didn’t show up, the pair instead headed towards Canada.

Matt had previously fled to Mexico after killing and dismembering his ex- boss in 1997.

Carl Thomas lives about a half-mile from where Sweat was captured and said troopers made the right decision by killing Matt and shooting Sweat.

Parts of Rickerson’s body were found in the Niagara River in early 1998.
