“Because this question is raised over my character and that of the women of Punjab, we will file a defamation case against him and he will have to prove the allegations that have been made in front of the court”, Sanjay Singh told a press conference in the national capital. This is an attempt to malign my and party’s image by the BJP and Akali Dal in Punjab, as they are scared by the growing popularity of AAP.
Singh said while the party had fielded Sehrawat thrice, twice in Assembly and once in Lok Sabha elections, what has the Bijwasan MLA done for the party. The party’s Delhi convener, Dilip Pandey, said, “He has no proof to substantiate these claims. As an MLA, he is aware of the platform within the party where he can place his concerns”.
Sehrawat has named Sanjay Singh, a close confidante of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and its political affairs committee member Durgesh Pathak and a few others in his statement, news18.com reported. “Action needs to be taken to remove rotten elements”.
“If he has any ethics or morals, will he please say what favours he gave to the party to get tickets thrice”, asked Singh. The SAD leaders said it was shameful that AAP had not taken any action on the complaint of Devinder Sehrawat who had written the letter “detailing the sexual offences of AAP leaders in the hope of corrective action”.
“The allegations levelled by Sehrawat are baseless”.
Sehrawat had also written a letter to social activist Anna Hazare saying he was upset with the “corruption” and “immorality” in the party, which has strayed away from its “principles”.
On Sehrawat’s fate in the party Singh said that a decision would be taken after AAP’s national convenor Kejriwal’s return from Vatican City.
