“I was embarrassed. I had to swallow my pride and bring my kid to class”, Osbon told News 2 on Wednesday.

Amanda Osbon, a single mom and a student at DeVry University, in Nashville, Tennessee, faced just that situation Monday, Nashville’s WKRN News reports.
A single mother says she had to bring her son to class with her – but she didn’t expect things to turn out like this.
“Most of us in the class are parents, so everyone was very understanding that he was there”, Osbon wrote to WKRN.

As some who commented on the story pointed out, not only did Bunkowske help Osbon, but picking up the child, who would have been distracting if running around or fussing, helped keep the attention of the students on him, even if by way of the toddler. Unable to afford daycare, she has paid a private babysitter to watch her son.
“My professor deserves all the praise in the world”.
Without hesitation, Bunkowske picked up Xzavier and held him while continuing to teach, WKRN reports. Xzavier sat next to her during the class, which went from 6 to 9 p.m., and during a break in class at 7:30 p.m., Professor Joel Bunkowske left Osbon in tears with a simple act of empathy.
