Project CARS for Wii U canceled, studio says console not powerful enough

“Despite much perseverance on the Wii U version of Project CARS we will no longer be actively pursuing development on it as the quality does not meet our own high standards nor our intended vision for the title on this platform”, explained Tudor.
“We’re awaiting an announcement from Nintendo on new hardware”, said Bell, implying that even they don’t know what the NX will be in the end.
Ian Bell, the head of Slightly Mad Studios, never truly committed to the idea of releasing Project CARS on the Wii U, though has now told NintendoLife that the future release is pointing towards a more definite “no” than ever.
It’s unclear if that means a version of the existing Project Cars is headed to NX, or the game’s just-announced sequel. If Slightly Mad Studios could consider targeting the Wii U, then why not also the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 which had comparable levels of performance?
In May, Bell commented on the game’s forums that the development on the Wii U was facing difficulty, saying they had gotten Project CARS to run at 23 frames per second at 720p resolution on the console.
In a statement to Nintendo Life, Slightly Mad confirmed that hardware limitations are indeed the reason for the cancellation, noting that the current build of Project Cars “is simply too much for the Wii U”.

Slightly Mad Studios admitted back in June it was struggling to hit 30fps with the racer.
