The Xbox Scorpio comes out just four years after the Xbox One console is launched.

Are you looking forward to playing this game on your Xbox One? It is still unclear what the system is going to cost, although we expect given the hardware that it will be a hefty price.

Mike Ybarra, Lead Engineer for Xbox and Windows Gaming at Microsoft, revealed the news in a Twitter post, confirming that the next-gen console would support the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility program.

Aside from its available games, another point of interest involves VR compatibility. As an owner of all three of the current major headsets, the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PSVR, he’s not completely sold on the idea right now.

“I don’t have this desire to every two years have a new console on the shelf”, he explained to Game Informer. The next gen console is said to be the most powerful console by the time it is released in the fall of 2017.

According to reports, the competition is going to be which company has the best 4K output as both tech giants are racing to have the best gaming technology in the market today. “We’re thinking about it”. The Xbox One is an incredible effective all-in-one console and I even returned my cable box this fall since all of the media I follow and watch, including movies and hit TV shows I follow on Netflix, are already easily accessible. Since the original Xbox rolled out by Microsoft years back, each new iteration has sported a significant escalation in the RAM specifications and the Xbox 2 might just see a ramp up from the 8GB DDR3 RAM featured in the Xbox one. It seems that Microsoft is hoping to avoid doing that with VR on Scorpio, which seems like a fair approach.

Spencer argues that he hasn’t found any VR game that gamers undertake for a long period of time, in what is called “long-term engagement”.
