Proposed NFL Stadium Gets Naming Sponsor
Owners are meeting this week in New York, and franchise movement will be among their talks, but a decision isn’t expected until early next year.

Sports Business Journal’s Daniel Kaplan reports that a prospective NFL stadium in St. Louis agreed to a 20-year, $158 million naming rights deal with National auto Rental.
The city of St. Louis is pushing hard to keep the Rams in town despite owner Stan Kroenke’s desire to move them to Southern California.
On Saturday I wrote about National auto Rental registering domain names related to naming rights for a sports stadium.
There are three National Football League teams seeking new stadiums and hoping for a move to LA: the San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders and the Rams. It would rank just behind the Minnesota Vikings’ $8.8 million-per-year deal for U.S. Bank Stadium and ahead of the Arizona Cardinals $7.8 million per year deal for University of Phoenix Stadium.
The stadium, which would replace the Edward Jones Dome as the home of the National Football League (NFL) side the St. Louis Rams, has been proposed to help keep the Rams playing in the city. “In total, the Taylors have given more than $100 million to the Arch project alone”.

The naming rights agreement doesn’t guarantee the stadium along the Mississippi River will get built. St. Louis stadium task force officials have said repeatedly that they’ve tried to mirror Minnesota’s stadium plan to date. Unsurprisingly, the Rams were not involved as Kroenke wants the team Inglewood, Calif. instead.
