Prosecutors charge boy, 11, with manslaughter in shooting of 3-year-old
The older boy is believed to have taken a handgun from a wardrobe in a bedroom at his father’s home in Detroit and tossed it from a window into the backyard.

He is being charged as a juvenile.
The boy retrieved the gun and jumped into a vehicle parked in the backyard. He was pronounced dead on arrival at St. John Hospital. Both boys were playing in the vehicle when the weapon was fired.
“I can not remember a time where we have charged someone so young with taking a life”, Worthy said in a prepared statement. “Everybody is hurt. It’s just sad”.
They described Elijah as “always on the go with his incredible amount of energy”, and said he “never failed to give anyone his million dollar smile”.
‘His bright smile, contagious laughter, and sweet personality will forever be missed.
The 3-year-old boy got into the auto and was shot once in the face.
Walker, who was shot in the face, died of his injuries and Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Wednesday charged the 11-year-old with manslaughter and felony use of a firearm.
The 11-year-old’s attorney asked Wednesday for a competency hearing.
But the boy did nod when read his rights and when he was read his next court date: a pre-trial hearing on Monday morning.
It was reported during the trial that the boy wasn’t active in school at the time of the shooting.
Police had called it an accidental shooting.

According to CBS Detroit, police at the scene said the boys had been playing with the gun.
