Surveillance video shows Deontae being pursued by a man police believe to be Walker, grabbed by his arm and forced into a vehicle. Police said the man grabbed Deontae by the arm, forced him into a rear passenger door of black Chevrolet Impala with a spoiler and drove off.

Crystal Mitchell, the mother of Deontae Mitchell is comforted by family and friends when she arrives where a body has been found, Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Detroit. Craig did not provide details.

Through surveillance footage from the market, police identified the man as 45-year-old Gregory Walker armed with a.22 caliber pistol, and deemed him “armed and risky”. They have said he was armed with a revolver when Deontae was forced into the auto and that at some point after the abduction, he returned to the market. Walker is being held on a probation violation warrant. He also has past weapon, stolen property and drug convictions. One of them, a 30-year-old from Detroit, was arrested Thursday in his home; he was not immediately charged.

Walker and his 43-year-old girlfriend are expected to be extradited.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan joined Craig at the news conference and said violent crimes – especially those involving children – are happening too often in Detroit.

According to the Free Press report, more than 100 law enforcement personnel have been assigned to the case, including: the Detroit Police Department, the FBI, Michigan State Police, Toledo Police Department, the Michigan Department of Corrections, and more.

Chief James Craig says the medical examiner will determine if it’s the body of Deontae Mitchell. “When we see something that just doesn’t fit we should say something”.
