Prosecutors: Teen killed with Chicago family begged for life
Chicago Police said Diego Uribe and Jafeth Ramos, 19, will be charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of six members of Uribe’s family.

Both were charged with first-degree murder Thursday after police say they found DNA evidence matching Uribe Cruz, a nephew to one of the victims by marriage.
“They were a family like any other who went to work, went to school, loved each other, and abided by the law”, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said.
Authorities found the four adults and two children, ages 10 and 13, dead February 4.
Ramos wasn’t accused of killing any of the victims but Alvarez said she aided and abetted Cruz.
Diego Uribe Cruz, 22, and his girlfriend Jafeth Ramos, 19, were charged with six counts of murder each, officials said Thursday, according to CBS Chicago.
Hours before, Uribe Cruz and Ramos socialized with the family for a bit when Uribe Cruz asked Maria Martinez to go upstairs so they could talk, Lisuzzo said, listing details from what the couple allegedly told police. Ramos told police she heard his screams.
After murdering the family, including two boys, Uribe Cruz and Ramos left with money, a piggy bank, electronics and jewelry. “I haven’t seen a case that has hit as close to home for myself and so many others in this department”.
No attorneys were listed for Uribe Cruz and Ramos. “Both made statements admitting their roles in this horrific crime”.
Mexicans have followed news of the killings closely and Mexico’s consulate took a special interest in the case.
The father of the two dead children, Manuel Armando Cruz, was granted a USA humanitarian visa to fly from his home in Morelos, Mexico, to attend funeral services at St. Gall Catholic Church in Chicago.
Both the USA and Mexican governments helped with paperwork to send all six bodies to Mexico for burial.
None of the victims had been bound or restrained, which led authorities to think that the family knew their attackers, explained the chief of detectives, Eugene Roy.
On Feb. 4, police responded to the home after a report that 38-year-old Noe Martinez Jr. had not shown up for work. His body was laying in the living room with 11 stab wounds to the head, shoulder and chest.
Rosaura Martinez tried to throw a picture frame at Uribe Cruz, according to authorities, but Uribe Cruz kicked the 58-year-old woman down a flight of stairs before eventually grabbing two knives from the kitchen and stabbing her repeatedly. She was wearing pajamas and her hands were badly cut and her left wrist dislocated.

Diego Cruz told Alexis to go to the basement, where he allegedly fatally stabbed him. Noe Martinez Sr., 62, suffered 42 knife wounds all over his body.
