Protest continues in U.S. against killing of black men

The Black Lives Matter activist was arrested while marching in Baton Rouge on Airline Highway. Sterling died of his wounds and video of his death went viral, sparking calls for justice in what many saw as an unnecessary shooting.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Several hundred people, some of whom were affiliated with Black Lives Matter, broke off from the city’s 200th anniversary parade to march from Point State Park to the county courthouse.
A third protest was planned in Miami on Saturday evening. The crowd reportedly chanted, “No racist police, no justice, no peace”.
Two weapons were confiscated, according to a police spokesman. But officers came out again after the demonstration moved to a different area of the street.
Mckesson then pointed his camera at the road, and said there was no sidewalk.
One of McKesson’s peers picked up his phone and filmed his arrest.

As many as 200 people forced their way past Minnesota State Patrol troopers who were trying to block them from getting on the road. The police have been violent tonight. “The protesters have not”. “Don’t fight me! Don’t fight me!”

Many carried signs or wore T-shirts with messages like the well-known “Black Lives Matter” or “I can’t keep calm, I have a black son”.
The Advocate in Louisiana reports that police officers were apparently unprovoked before rushing in and arresting protesters.
In New York City, about 300 people took to the streets to protest Friday night.
Baton Rouge resident Marie Flowers came to the protest with her three children. “City Police. You’re under arrest – don’t fight me”, a voice says.
On Tuesday, Sterling, 37, was near a convenience store where he regularly sold CDs and DVDs.
“I’ve been active in the community for years”. But until that serious discussion happens, he said he fears “we’re going to continue to see this kind of tragic incident” like the Dallas attack.

Cornell William Brooks, the national head of the NAACP, visited Baton Rouge on Friday and said he is exhausted of victims of police shootings being treated as “hashtag tragedies” instead of human beings mourned by their families.
Their deaths – along with those of several African-Americans before them – spurred anger and debate over the use of force by police and questions over racial profiling.
A Reuters eyewitness said officers were sweeping a large parking garage outside its headquarters on Saturday, two days after a gunman killed five policeman during a protest march. Police said early on Sunday they had begun clearing the highway of debris in preparation for re-opening it.
“We have to respect the 99.9% of law enforcement officials who do good everyday but we have to act decisively when individuals in the law enforcement community do wrong”, Reed said.
Obama says that “as tough, as hard, as depressing” as has been the loss of lives this week, “we’ve got a foundation to build on”. “We just want peace”.
