Several Democratic sources told CNN that the leaked emails are a big source of contention and may incite tensions between the Clinton and Sanders camps heading into the Democratic convention’s Rules Committee meeting this weekend.

Earlier on Sunday, Sanders’ had called for Wasserman Schultz to resign due to her role in the scandal.

In return, Clinton seized upon what she called the “fear and the anger and the resentment” from Trump and Republicans, dismissing Trump’s declaration that only he could fix the problems that afflict the nation.

The leak also showed the party’s chief financial officer sought to promote a media narrative that Sanders had “skated” on his “Jewish heritage”, and suggested that his lack of religiosity would be a political weakness.

She now will step down at the end of the convention.

“To my mind, what is most important now is the defeating of the worst candidate for president that I have seen in my lifetime, Donald Trump, who is not qualified to be president by temperament, not qualified to be president by the ideas that he has brought forth”, Sanders said on ABC. This week, delegates, celebrities, politicians, and reporters will head to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where delegates will be counted and Hillary Clinton will presumably be announced at the party’s presidential nominee. “And I think we need a new chair who is going to lead us in a very different direction”.
