Two protesters unfurled a large banner reading “BoA: Dump Dominion”, referring to Bank of America Corp and Dominion Resources Inc, a regional electricity provider that is building a liquefied natural gas export facility at Cove Point on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. It didn’t take long for police to converge on the protestors, who were left hanging as fans were cleared away from the sections above and below them. The Charlotte Fire Department was then called in to help, police said.

The identities of those involved in the Monday night protest have not been released to the public. ESPN cameras showed the protesters suspended over the lower stands with climbing gear. Bank of America owns naming rights to the Panthers’ home stadium.

“Bags that have to be checked prior to entry include, ‘purses, bags or clutches no larger than 4.5” x 6.5″‘. No injuries have been reported following the incident.

‘The people of Lusby and their allies have been working since early 2013 for studies to determine what the impacts of this terminal will be and whether it is safe to put it in their community, ‘ the organization added.

Dominion has faced stiff resistance from a broad coalition of local citizens that arose as soon as the company’s plans to export liquefied natural gas via a new facility at Cove Point was first brought to light in the fall of 2013.
