“Dancing with the Stars” host Tom Bergeron said on Tuesday he was shocked and unnerved by protesters who shouted “liar, liar” and rushed the stage after a live performance by Ryan Lochte, the gold-medal USA swimmer who made up a story about being robbed at the Rio Olympics. The gold medalist landed in hot water at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro after lying to police about being robbed at gunpoint.

Lochte joined “Dancing with the Stars” after becoming embroiled in an worldwide controversy during the recent Summer Olympics, in which he and other Olympic swimmers fabricated being robbed at gunpoint in Rio, Brazil, during a night out.

Of course, the big news of the day is still the protest that happened against Ryan Lochte on last night’s “Dancing with the Stars” performance show, and the aftermath that resulted in multiple people being thrown out. The disruption was targeted towards Ryan, as the men were wearing anti-Lochte shirts and were shaming the swimmer for his recent Rio robbery scandal.

“I want to thank my family, girlfriend, friends and fans for being so supportive of me after the incident on Dancing With the Stars Monday night”, Lochte wrote in note posted to his social media accounts.

Despite rushing the stage after Lochte’s first performance, Soroudi said the two had no intention of hurting the swimmer.

The cell phone footage reveals that four female protesters were seated in the audience and continued to boo Lochte as the events were unfolding onstage. Then, when we realized it wasn’t, that hurt.

The two men were detained by security until police arrived to take them into custody, Los Angeles police spokesman Mike Lopez said. Host Tom Bergeron announced the show was going to cut to a break. “We don’t take what he did lightly”, Soroudi said.

“Once Lochte did what he did, embarrassed Americans, lied to Brazil, the climate changed”, they said.
