Christie joined the chorus of voices denouncing violence against police in the wake of Sunday’s attacks in Baton Rouge but criticized President Obama for taking “sides against police” in past controversies.

Created to represent his partnership with his new running, Mike Pence, the joint campaign image depicts the “T” from Trump and the “P” from Mike Pence interconnected with the phrase: “Trump Pence: Make America great again”.

“This campaign and Donald Trump’s candidacy has been about the issues the American people care about”.

“You’re both teetotalers.” That’s one quality that Donald Trump and Mike Pence share, but Lesley Stahl wanted to know what else the presidential running mates have in common.

The reaction to the Pence choice from Republican officials was overwhelmingly positive – no small feat for Trump, given how polarising he has been within his own party. MA senator Elizabeth Warren, a favourite of liberals and one of the Democrats’ most effective Trump critics, and Colorado governor John Hickenlooper, were seen in separate cars that left Clinton’s home.

In in the interview, Trump was confronted with Pence’s vote to authorize force in 2002 as a member of the House.

“We’re going to declare war against ISIS”.

“I grew up with a front-row seat to the American dream”, he said.

The original logo was on the letterhead fundraising email sent after Trump said the Governor of IN would be part of his bid to be the next President of the United States. Mr. Trump tweeted out Friday morning that Mr. Pence was his pick, and the two had an event together on Saturday in NY.

Pence has complained that negative campaigning is wrong, and Stahl asks about Trump’s name-calling.

Pence had trouble answering the question posed by Stahl. Trump says he opposed the war from the start.

Mr Trump corrected him: “Well, I speak from my heart and my brain. People want to come here and destabilize our country”, says Trump’s campaign manager Paul Manafort. “Folks would look at me and say, ‘Are they good people?’ And I’d say, ‘They’re really good people'”.

Pence, who describes himself as “a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order”, is regarded as a safe choice within conservative circles, able to pick up support among moderate Republicans and evangelical Christians.
