Protesters to rally after latest Chicago police videos
On Thursday, before the videos were released, Angelo said their public airing would be unfair to the officers and could turn public opinion against them and even jeopardize their safety.

The videos capture at least 15 shots being fired in about five seconds as the Jaguar passed the officers and drove away. CNN did not air the videos on Friday afternoon.
An officer is heard angrily accusing the suspected vehicle thief of firing at police.
Charlene Carruthers is national director of the Black Youth Project 100.
The officer becomes agitated as he asks a colleague whether a weapon had been found in Mr O’Neal’s auto and speculates that he may be in trouble over the shooting.
Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police urged people not to rush to judgment in the case.
Johnson has said the officers, who he noted Saturday received the same training as the rest of the department, violated a department policy.
Shocking and disturbing footage surrounding a fatal police shooting in Chicago was released on Friday. “We want that for the police department as well”. Mayor Rahm Emanuel created the Chicago Police Accountability Task Force, which in April this year came to damning conclusions about the “racism and systemic failures in the city’s police force, validating complaints made for years by African-American residents”.
O’Neal’s family lawyer, Michael Oppenheimer, called it a cold-blooded murder and accused the police officers of taking law into their own hands.
What the videos do not show is the fatal shooting itself. A post-mortem examination determined that the teenager died from a gunshot to his back.
Green said the officers involved need to be held accountable.
In the videos, the officers appear to question whether O’Neal fired at them.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the officer’s body camera could have been deactivated when the stolen Jaguar slammed into his squad auto and set off the air bags. A third officer chases O’Neal.
The latest recording catches the stolen vehicle being pursued by officers as it blows through a stop sign. “It is one of the most horrific things that I have seen”.
In another body camera video, an officer is breathing heavily. Later another officer can be heard asking, “They shot at us too, right?”. “I don’t know who was shooting in the alley”.
According to ABC-7 News, video showing the Chicago police shooting the killed 18-year-old shows more than 40 hours of video captured by police dashboard and body cameras was released to the public via the Independent Police Review Authority’s online case portal around 11 a.m.
The fact that there was any video released at all, and just eight days after the shooting, is being seen as a step in the right direction for the Chicago Police Department though, especially with all the previous accusations against them for withholding information regarding police misconduct.
The Justice Department has said cameras can improve policing and a department’s relationship with the community.

The head of Chicago’s police oversight board, Sharon Fairley, released a statement regarding the footage saying, “As shocking and disturbing as it is, is not the only evidence to be gathered and analyzed when conducting a fair and thorough assessment of the conduct of police officers in performing their duties”.
