Pakistan today accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “irresponsible behaviour” by making provocative statements that it was exporting terror, saying his remarks were part of a “well thought out vilification campaign” to distract attention from Kashmir.

Acknowledging that there is an atmosphere of anger in the country over the attack, Modi accused the “rulers” in Pakistan of reading out the scripts written by patrons of terrorists, an apparent reference to its prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s speech at the United Nations. “If there is unrest in Srinagar, then the New Delhi can also not be at peace”, he said. “I want to remind them that before 1947, your forefathers had saluted this land”, he said.

He said during the meeting of SAARC foreign ministers, Akbar raised the issue of terrorism and how India is countering that. “We are proud of our army”.

He said that in the last four months, Indian security forces have killed 110 terrorists who allegedly crossed over the cease-fire line in Kashmir from Pakistani territory. The terrorists have tried to strike 17 times recently, they were successful in one incident. The Dawn also ran the headline, “Modi says India will work to “isolate” Pakistan internationally”.
