Providence breaks last years’ high-temperature record
The Midwest and parts of the South will feel slightly warmer, with Chicago reaching about 44 degrees (10 degrees warmer than usual), and St. Louis at about 56 degrees (16 degrees warmer), according to The Weather Channel.

Washington will see highs in the 70s on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, challenging records each day.
The National Weather Service said temperature readings at Central Park reached 66 degrees at 12:31 a.m. Friday, edging out the previous record of 64 degrees set in 1982. The high temperature is expected to be between 50 and 54 degrees.
In Boston, December is running more than ten degrees warmer than normal and 5 degrees above the previous warmest December on record according to the National Weather Service.
The forecast temperatures for Christmas morning, according to the Weather Channel, are also expected to be record breaking – not as hot as Christmas Eve, but still considerable above average with highs in the 60s in New York City.
In Warwick, Harry and Denise Dowling jogged through Goddard Memorial State Park in T-shirts and shorts.
It will cool off a little overnight, and Christmas Day will have a high of 60 degrees and a mix of sun and clouds.
With warm weather in some parts of the country, though, travel should be easier for those hoping to visit relatives and friends.
“I keep feeling like I’m forgetting something – my coat”, she said. Skies are mostly cloudy for Christmas Day, and temperatures aren’t almost as warm. Record highs stay safe, though we are close.

Warmer-than-usual temperatures are projected to extend through January.

It will continue cold and blustery on Saturday, with a high of just 23 degrees in Flagstaff.
