PS+ Vote To Play Feature Kicks Off On Thursday

Sony indicated that the price increase for PlayStation Plus will apply beginning this September 1. With PSN frequently facing downtime and always running over schedule when it comes to breaks for maintenance, even a minor hike in the cost of the subscription fee could leave a sour taste in the mouths of PlayStation owners. Here, the three-month sub will go up to $32.95, from the $24.95 it now costs.

It adds something different to PS Plus experience and puts more of the power for game line-ups into gamers’ hands, which can only be a good thing. In addition, the company did not confirm if the subscribers in the US will also be affected. Each month, a set of games is released to be played by these paid members completely free of charge, similar to Xbox Live’s Games with Gold. Users will be able to join existing communities or start their own, and once one is formed, members can easily choose to play games, join parties, or discuss shared interests with one another. The two games not receiving the most votes will be available at a discount to PS Plus subscribers.

As PlayStation 4 passed its one-year anniversary last October, Sony rolled out a hoard of long-requested features in the form of firmware 2.0, which bundled together YouTube integration and Share Play.

But while Sony revealed that they are planning to come up with other Vote to Play features in the future, it will not be a regular monthly theme.

“We are dedicated to bringing PlayStation Plus members the best possible service with the most compelling content”, reads the statement.

Today, Sony announced the three games that you can vote on.

There are multiple games bundled with PS Plus every month, so this won’t stop Sony from partnering with specific developers and personally ushering them into the system.

How much the prices will increase is yet not fully disclosed, however the price was raised by 51% in South Africa in late 2014.
