PS4 Pro Captures Gameplay Videos At 1080p, Screenshots At 4K Res
With the announcement of the PlayStation 4 Pro, Sony is pushing the boundaries of console gaming by implementing 4K and HDR support.

The PS4 Pro will be released on November 10. That also included vanilla PlayStation 4 owners who will soon receive new firmware that supports HDR-capable displays.
Although the PS4 Pro features 4K video streaming, and a number of other graphical enhancement features, ultra 4K Blu-ray discs won’t be supported.
The Sony PS4 Pro only has a standard Blu-ray drive. Gameplay videos that players capture will be done in full HD 1080p resolution.
In order to take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s power and the ability to change your gameplay experience (depending on your TV), game developers will need to supply games with an enhancement patch.
Now gamers can rejoice knowing they will continue to receive free updates – something that is rightfully expected when you purchase a game. Microsoft offers it in a $299 Xbox One S. The Sony PS4 Pro is $100 more expensive.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean that all games, especially the ones that have been already released, will be able to use additional GPU performance, as it will exclusively depend on the developer. In practice, games upscaled to 4K can be a little hit or miss on the Xbox One S, but something like Rise of the Tomb Raider looks spectacular right out of the box.

The console war could get interesting again this Holiday season. The Xbox One S could come out as the big victor. The Scorpio will be more powerful than the PS4 Pro.
