Gaming site Eurogamer took this image of a new, slimmer version of the PlayStation 4 gaming console, weeks ahead of Sony’s media event.
A lot of the PS4 Pro emphasis has been on 4K and HDR, but not a lot on 60FPS which is what gamers really want to find out the answer to before considering a purchase. Speaking of price, the PS4 Pro is competitively priced, launching at just $399 – the same price that the original PS4 launched at.
The PS4 Pro will debut with 4K video and high-dynamic range (HDR). “This new high-end PS4 will sit alongside the new slimmer, lighter PS4, which we officially unveiled today”. In fact, during the press conference, Sony never even touched on the topic of the Blu-ray player within the new console, which is set to launch in November. The PS4 Slim, like the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 revisions before it is a slightly smaller console with the same innards as its predecessor.
Do you think Sony should announce PlayStation 4 Pro trade-in program? Reports are that the high end PlayStation NEO will come with a host of powerful specs and features to deliver native 4K experience.
“Some developers are updating previously launched PS4 games to add PS4 Pro support, while other developers are building PS4 Pro support into upcoming releases”.
When can you get your hands on this new console powerhouse?
Unlike the Xbox One S, the PS4 Slim doesn’t feature any notable upgrades over its predecessor, but hardware revisions have become the norm in recent console generations.

Whether the new console will be powerful enough to handle native 4K games remains to be seen – it could simply upscale current games to 4K resolution, just like the Xbox One S.
