PES 2017 will be patched to support 4K-quality resolution and HDR on PS4 Pro after launch, Konami has announced.
The reason behind this quick update schedule is down to innovation elsewhere in the technology space – that and, well, money: new hardware means more sales which means more revenue. So it might not come as a surprise, but see such elaborate graphical stuff running at 60fps, again, it’s really interesting and indicative of what PS4 Pro could actually deliver.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Andrew House, admitted that the company didn’t even consider the Xbox as a competitor when it was developing the upcoming PlayStation 4 Pro console.
Still, this won’t last.
If you’re looking for specifics, the Xbox One S is about 40% smaller than the original Xbox One at 17 x 11.4 x 4.4 inches or 43.2 x 28.9 x 11.2 cm (L x W x D).
The site believes that with the PS4 Pro landing much earlier than the Xbox Scorpio, it will get much of the thunder.
This is where things get tricky. There may be a slight improvement in UI responsiveness, but that could equally be down to our reviewer’s older console having been jammed full of games and years of use whereas the newer machine was relatively box fresh.
Streaming services that run at 4K resolution will look great on the Xbox One S, the only system now available that offers such high resolution. According to the report, using PlayStation 4 Pro with a 4K display will render at 1440 p or potentially more, while keeping a consistent 60 fps.
Hands down, Sony wins it here.
The arrival of the PlayStation 4 Pro seems to mark a new era for consoles. It features a monster 8-core chip and 8GB of GDDR5 RAM. Installing a new hard drive is easier on the Slim, too. The Xbox One S has a quad-core chip and 8GB of slower DDR3 RAM.
The biggest announcement from the video game giant is the confirmed development of a more powerful version the PS4, dubbed Neo.

The Xbox One S is available now for just $299. One’s a bit slimmer, a bit rounder, but they’re identical on the inside.
