PS4 Remote Play on PC price fears after Sony action

Sony’s had its Remote Play tech in one form or another since the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, but it didn’t truly take off until its implementation on PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita handheld. In fact the program we see in action in the YouTube video below (via PC Games N) began is pretty much his Android app ported to PC.

Since October 2014, a developer that goes by Twisted has been hard at work on “Remote Play PC” for the PS4.

The developer (operating under the pseudonym “Twisted”) says that the reasoning for charging for the application is to help make ends meet while working on it full time.

Streaming games from your Xbox One to your Window 10 is a hugely popular feature of the console, but something the PS4 has been lacking; until now. For now, only the Xbox One controller is supported, but that could change in the future.

Appropriately named Remote Play PC, the unofficial program sets out to do exact as its straightforward name implies: turning your PC into a recognizable remote play device, and letting your PS4 stream gameplay to it.

Well, if you fancied streaming games to your PC via Remote Play anyway. He plans on charging for the app – somewhere around $US10 – in order to support his living costs.

While we have already seen a vast number of PS4 users willing to pay the $10 / £6.50 asking price, it may be up to Sony now ultimately – or in other words, how lenient they decide to be.
