So in the wake of this remarkable footage, the question is really why PS4 Pro can’t be a 1080p60 box, bearing in mind the huge increase in GPU resources.

Most users will reap the benefits of the update’s enabled High Dynamic Range capabilities.

“What’s New” Update – The What’s New section isn’t really used (or cared for) but has been updated so you can see what friends are now playing, what parties they are in and trending screenshots and videos around the world. It’s even got a “smart” system to adjust for what you’ll most likely need. This includes 1080p streaming for Remote Play on PC/Mac and Xperia devices that are compatible, Share Play streaming of 1080p, Live broadcasting in YouTube in 1080p 30/60 fps and Live broadcasting in Twitch at 1080p 30 fps.

Among the new backend functionality is also the ability to transfer data to a new PS4, should anyone be in the market for a PS4 Slim.

After a lengthy period in beta, the hotly-anticipated PS4 update is now available to download in the United Kingdom and rest of the world.

PlayStation veterans will probably notice the revamping of the console’s UI first.

Throughout the update, the overall look and feel of PS4’s main user interface has been improved.

All PlayStation 4 systems back from the very first console sold in 2013 will be HDR capable. It shows only the games you actually own, cutting out the mountain of demos and freebies many gamers have in their library. Like with the Quick Menu, it only takes up a portion of the screen, but it still has the same functionality we’ve come to expect. Both were resized (read: shrank) so that instead of covering the gaming area, video, or app, they now occupy a tiny fraction of your screen. A new Content Info screen will detail sections by Overview, Trending Media, Friends etc. Users will be able to see all upcoming songs on a playlist and have the option to play all, or to choose a specific song to listen to from the playlist.

As Andy House said, our vision is to present a clear choice to the gamer and we are steadfast in our commitment to being the best place to play.
