Public funeral to be held in Ali’s hometown
“Everybody all over the whole world knows who Muhammad Ali was, even if they don’t know who the president of the United States is, they know who Muhammad Ali is”, Delgado said.

A memorial is set for Friday – a chance to say goodbye to a champion known as “the greatest”. “And then Ali said, ‘If you love me, why did you kick my [butt]?'”
The fighter himself planned much of the memorial events, Gunnell said. “Why doesn’t he ride to school like everybody else?” one student asked.
Denver became a small part of his complex, fascinating story just as Ali’s boxing prowess and fame was ascending.
They’re both outspoken. They both had to reinvent themselves in the ring. Ali started out as a slick, fast-handed boxer and morphed into a heavier tactician who won as much on his wits as he did on his iron chin.
“You have a community that knew him so well, so while the world mourns on one level, Louisville mourns on a personal level”, Kentucky congressman for Louisville John Yarmuth said after the town hall’s flags were lowered to half-mast. His fight outside the ring would cost him his title and his public standing, but he stood his ground, Obama noted. Now you see me, now you don’t. “I think many are feeling that they are orphaned”. That says something about the man’s character. Muhammad Ali was bigger than sports and larger than life.
And, he remained “The Greatest”- Muhammad Ali-dead at 74. If you don’t like the sight of an opponent being pulverised and pounded, you would probably hate Muhammad Ali as to why he was destroying his opponents. When I fought Ali I was happy but it made me unhappy.
“A tremendous loss. There was a time when I was a teenager and I was going through some turmoils in my life and some turmoils in the country. ‘Well done, champ. Well done'”.
Beginning at 9 a.m., the procession is expected to travel northbound on Bardstown Road, westbound on the Watterson Expressway, and then north on I-65 to westbound I-64 and exiting on 9 Street ramp and traveling to the street named after him. How do you imitate greatness?
Kaehn had two encounters with Ali. One of the great traits of a champion is a great work ethic, and that’s what he had.
Dr. King, also an ardent critic of the war, supported Ali’s position as a conscientious objector. “This man was way ahead of his time and he’s a monument to the human race”.
“I was devastated”, he said. I have always maintained there is a difference between a victor and a champion.
For many, it was his stance on civil rights and religious freedom that turned him into what he became. The love he showed me he didn’t have too. What a sad day for everyone to (lose) someone so great and kind and someone who really stood up for what they believed in. Ali was born on January 17, 1942 and his interest in boxing began at age 12, after he reported a stolen bicycle to a local police officer, Joe Martin, who was also a boxing trainer.
“What a showman he was, I mean he’s so complex”.
“The things he stood up for is what I’ll remember, and I’m a military man. I served in the Navy”. There’s not even a handful of people who would take jail time over that.
“Hating people due to their color is wrong”.
“That’s the type of guy he was. He gave everyone the courage to speak up”.

That decision was widely criticised by the boxer’s fellow Americans.
