Puerto Rico’s Voters Opt for Marco Rubio in Republican Primary

It wasn’t clear how many delegates Rubio had when the Associated Press called the race for the senator on Sunday afternoon.

The Florida Senator was widely-expected to win the Puerto Rico primary, and he received key endorsements from leaders there.

A decisive victory, with more than half the vote, would give one candidate all 20 delegates at stake.

In addition officials say the votes that some 6,000 inmates cast on Friday won’t be available until Wednesday.

Marco Rubio will collect all 23 of Puerto Rico’s delegates after posting a huge win in the US territory.

As of Sunday, Trump had 382 delegates to 300 for Cruz and 128 for Rubio.

Mr Sanders said the “political revolution” has always been about turning out large numbers of working people, young people and those who have not been involved in the political process, and that was “bearing out” on Saturday.

According to the AP, on the Republican side candidates need 1,237 delegates for the nomination.

In Idaho, which hosts its primary Tuesday, Sen. “We knew this would be the roughest period in the campaign given the electoral makeup of the map”. Lindsey Graham said. While Graham made sure to note that it’s “not like I prefer Ted Cruz”, he encouraged Rubio and Ohio Gov. John Kasich to “decide among themselves” whether they can be a realistic alternative to Trump.

The Republicans will be watching for results from the primary in Puerto Rico.

Ronald Reagan – and Nancy Reagan, who died Sunday – were a big focus for Rubio. In the Senate, Marco Rubio was in favor of a hard line, focusing on structural reforms instead of debt write-down through bankruptcy protection.

The busy weekend in the 2016 presidential race continues with two more contests Sunday and a Democratic debate.

Any registered voter could take part, but only if they signed a document of affiliation with the Republican Party moments before casting a ballot.
